Content of Surah Al-Adiyat

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

 

Yusuf Ali:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Abul Ala Maududi:
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Muhsin Khan:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Pickthall:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Dr. Ghali:
In The Name of Allah, The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful

Abdul Haleem:
In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
شروع کرتا ہوں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم واﻻ ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
अल्लाह के नाम से जो रहमान रहीम है।

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Mengasihani.

وَٱلۡعَٰدِيَٰتِ ضَبۡحٗا

1.     Wal’aadi yaati dabha

By the racers, panting,

 

Yusuf Ali:
By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),

Abul Ala Maududi:
By (the horses) that charge snorting,

Muhsin Khan:
By the (steeds) that run, with panting (breath),

Pickthall:
By the snorting courses,

Dr. Ghali:
And (by) the snorting chargers,

Abdul Haleem:
By the charging steeds that pant

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ہانپتے ہوئے دوڑنے والے گھوڑوں کی قسم!

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
ग़ाज़ियों के) सरपट दौड़ने वाले घोड़ो की क़सम

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Demi Kuda Perang yang tangkas berlari dengan kedengaran kencang nafasnya,

فَٱلۡمُورِيَٰتِ قَدۡحٗا

2.     Fal moori yaati qadha

And the producers of sparks [when] striking

 

Yusuf Ali:
And strike sparks of fire,

Abul Ala Maududi:
then raise sparks of fire (by their hoofs),

Muhsin Khan:
Striking sparks of fire (by their hooves),

Pickthall:
Striking sparks of fire

Dr. Ghali:
Then (by) the strikers (of fire) in sparks,

Abdul Haleem:
and strike sparks with their hooves,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر ٹاپ مار کر آگ جھاڑنے والوں کی قسم!

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जो नथनों से फ़रराटे लेते हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Serta mencetuskan api dari telapak kakinya,

فَٱلۡمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبۡحٗا

3.     Fal mugheeraati subha
And the chargers at dawn,

 

Yusuf Ali:
And push home the charge in the morning,

Abul Ala Maududi:
then raid by the dawn,

Muhsin Khan:
And scouring to the raid at dawn

Pickthall:
And scouring to the raid at dawn,

Dr. Ghali:
Then (by) the morning raiders,

Abdul Haleem:
who make dawn raids,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر صبح کے وقت دھاوا بولنے والوں کی قسم

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर पत्थर पर टाप मारकर चिंगारियाँ निकालते हैं फिर सुबह को छापा मारते हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan meluru menyerbu musuh pada waktu subuh,

فَأَثَرۡنَ بِهِۦ نَقۡعٗا

4.     Fa atharna bihee naq’a

Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,

 

Yusuf Ali:
And raise the dust in clouds the while,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and blaze a trail of dust,

Muhsin Khan:
And raise the dust in clouds the while,

Pickthall:
Then, therewith, with their trail of dust,

Dr. Ghali:
So, they stir therewith a trail (of dust),

Abdul Haleem:
raising a cloud of dust,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پس اس وقت گرد وغبار اڑاتے ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
तो दौड़ धूप से) बुलन्द कर देते हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sehingga menghamburkan debu pada waktu itu,

فَوَسَطۡنَ بِهِۦ جَمۡعًا

5.     Fawa satna bihee jam’a

Arriving thereby in the center collectively,

 

Yusuf Ali:
And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-

Abul Ala Maududi:
and penetrate deep into a host.

Muhsin Khan:
Penetrating forthwith as one into the midst (of the foe);

Pickthall:
Cleaving, as one, the centre (of the foe),

Dr. Ghali:
Then they push forward therewith into the midst of the (enemy) gathering

Abdul Haleem:
and plunging into the midst of the enemy,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر اسی کے ساتھ فوجیوں کے درمیان گھس جاتے ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर उस वक्त (दुश्मन के) दिल में घुस जाते हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Lalu menggempur ketika itu di tengah-tengah kumpulan musuh;

إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٞ

6.     Innal-insana lirabbihee lakanood
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;

Abul Ala Maududi:
Verily man is most ungrateful to his Lord;

Muhsin Khan:
Verily! Man (disbeliever) is ungrateful to his Lord;

Pickthall:
Lo! man is an ingrate unto his Lord

Dr. Ghali:
Surely man is indeed ungrateful to his Lord;

Abdul Haleem:
man is ungrateful to his Lord––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یقیناً انسان اپنے رب کا بڑا ناشکرا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
ग़रज़ क़सम है) कि बेशक इन्सान अपने परवरदिगार का नाशुक्रा है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya manusia sangat tidak bersyukur akan nikmat Tuhannya.

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٞ

7.     Wa innahu ‘alaa zaalika la shaheed
And indeed, he is to that a witness.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds);

Abul Ala Maududi:
and he himself is a witness to that,

Muhsin Khan:
And to that fact he bears witness (by his deeds);

Pickthall:
And lo! he is a witness unto that;

Dr. Ghali:
And surely he is indeed a constant witness to that;

Abdul Haleem:
and He is witness to this––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور یقیناً وه خود بھی اس پر گواه ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और यक़ीनी ख़ुदा भी उससे वाक़िफ़ है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan sesungguhnya ia (dengan bawaannya) menerangkan dengan jelas keadaan yang demikian;

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلۡخَيۡرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

8.     Wa innahu lihubbil khairi la shadeed
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And violent is he in his love of wealth.

Abul Ala Maududi:
and surely he loves riches with a passionate loving.

Muhsin Khan:
And verily, he is violent in the love of wealth.

Pickthall:
And lo! in the love of wealth he is violent.

Dr. Ghali:
And surely he is indeed constantly (passionate) in his love for charity (i.e., good things).

Abdul Haleem:
he is truly excessive in his love of wealth.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یہ مال کی محنت میں بھی بڑا سخت ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और बेशक वह माल का सख्त हरीस है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan sesungguhnya ia melampau sangat sayangkan harta (secara tamak haloba).

۞أَفَلَا يَعۡلَمُ إِذَا بُعۡثِرَ مَا فِي ٱلۡقُبُورِ

9.     Afala ya’lamu iza b’uthira ma filquboor
But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered

 

Yusuf Ali:
Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad

Abul Ala Maududi:
Is he not aware that when whatever lies (buried) in the graves is overthrown;

Muhsin Khan:
Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are brought out and poured forth (all mankind is resurrected).

Pickthall:
Knoweth he not that, when the contents of the graves are poured forth

Dr. Ghali:
So, does he not know (that), when whatever is in the tombs is scattered away.

Abdul Haleem:
Does he not know that when the contents of graves burst forth,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
کیا اسے وه وقت معلوم نہیں جب قبروں میں جو (کچھ) ہے نکال لیا جائے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो क्या वह ये नहीं जानता कि जब मुर्दे क़ब्रों से निकाले जाएँगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Patutkah ia bersikap demikian?) Tidakkah ia mengetahui (bagaimana keadaan) ketika dibongkarkan segala yang ada dalam kubur?

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي ٱلصُّدُورِ

10.  Wa hussila maa fis sudoor
And that within the breasts is obtained,

 

Yusuf Ali:
And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-

Abul Ala Maududi:
and the secrets of the hearts are laid bare (and examined)?

Muhsin Khan:
And that which is in the breasts (of men) shall be made known.

Pickthall:
And the secrets of the breasts are made known,

Dr. Ghali:
And whatever is in the breasts is sought out,

Abdul Haleem:
when the secrets of hearts are uncovered, on that Day,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور سینوں کی پوشیده باتیں ﻇاہر کر دی جائیں گی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और दिलों के भेद ज़ाहिर कर दिए जाएँगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan dikumpul serta didedahkan segala yang terpendam dalam dada?

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّخَبِيرُۢ

11.  Inna rabbahum bihim yauma ‘izin lakhabeer
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Acquainted.
