Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

 

Yusuf Ali:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Abul Ala Maududi:
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Muhsin Khan:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Pickthall:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Dr. Ghali:
In The Name of Allah, The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful

Abdul Haleem:
In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
شروع کرتا ہوں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم واﻻ ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
अल्लाह के नाम से जो रहमान रहीम है।

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Mengasihani.

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ

1.  Wallaili izaa yaghshaa
By the night when it covers

 

Yusuf Ali:
By the Night as it conceals (the light);

Abul Ala Maududi:
By the night when it enshrouds,

Muhsin Khan:
By the night as it envelops;

Pickthall:
By the night enshrouding

Dr. Ghali:
And (by) the night when it envelops,

Abdul Haleem:
By the enshrouding night,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
قسم ہے اس رات کی جب چھا جائے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
रात की क़सम जब (सूरज को) छिपा ले

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Demi malam apabila ia menyelubungi segala-galanya (dengan gelap-gelitanya),

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

2.  Wannahaari izaa tajalla
And [by] the day when it appears

 

Yusuf Ali:
By the Day as it appears in glory;

Abul Ala Maududi:
and by the day when it breaks in its glory,

Muhsin Khan:
And by the day as it appears in brightness;

Pickthall:
And the day resplendent

Dr. Ghali:
And (by) the day when it manifests itself,

Abdul Haleem:
by the radiant day,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور قسم ہے دن کی جب روشن ہو

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और दिन की क़सम जब ख़ूब रौशन हो

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan siang apabila ia lahir terang-benderang;

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ

3.  Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa
And [by] He who created the male and female,

 

Yusuf Ali:
By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;-

Abul Ala Maududi:
and by Him Who created the male and the female:

Muhsin Khan:
And by Him Who created male and female;

Pickthall:
And Him Who hath created male and female,

Dr. Ghali:
And (by) That (i.e., the present life) which created the male and the female,

Abdul Haleem:
by His creation of male and female!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس نے نر وماده کو پیدا کیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और उस (ज़ात) की जिसने नर मादा को पैदा किया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Demi Yang menciptakan (makhluk-makhlukNya) lelaki dan perempuan, (jantan dan betina); –

إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ

4.  Inna sa’yakum lashattaa
Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse.

Abul Ala Maududi:
surely your strivings are divergent.

Muhsin Khan:
Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes);

Pickthall:
Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends).

Dr. Ghali:
Surely your endeavor is indeed to diverse (ends).

Abdul Haleem:
The ways you take differ greatly.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یقیناً تمہاری کوشش مختلف قسم کی ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
कि बेशक तुम्हारी कोशिश तरह तरह की है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya amal usaha kamu adalah berbagai-bagai keadaannya.

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

5.  Fa ammaa man a’taa wattaqaa
As for he who gives and fears Allah

 

Yusuf Ali:
So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah),

Abul Ala Maududi:
As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah’s sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him),

Muhsin Khan:
As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him,

Pickthall:
As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah)

Dr. Ghali:
So, as for him who gives, and is pious,

Abdul Haleem:
There is the one who gives, who is mindful of God,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جس نے دیا (اللہ کی راه میں) اور ڈرا (اپنے رب سے)

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो जिसने सख़ावत की और अच्छी बात (इस्लाम) की तस्दीक़ की

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Jelasnya: adapun orang yang memberikan apa yang ada padanya ke jalan kebaikan dan bertaqwa (mengerjakan suruhan Allah dan meninggalkan segala laranganNya), –

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ

6.  Wa saddaqa bil husnaa
And believes in the best [reward],

 

Yusuf Ali:
And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,-

Abul Ala Maududi:
and affirmed the Truth of goodness:

Muhsin Khan:
And believes in Al-Husna.

Pickthall:
And believeth in goodness;

Dr. Ghali:
And sincerely (believes) in the fairest (reward),

Abdul Haleem:
who testifies to goodness––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور نیک بات کی تصدیق کرتا رہے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो हम उसके लिए राहत आसानी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Serta ia mengakui dengan yakin akan perkara yang baik,

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ

7.  Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa
We will ease him toward ease.

 

Yusuf Ali:
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.

Abul Ala Maududi:
We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss.

Muhsin Khan:
We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness).

Pickthall:
Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease.

Dr. Ghali:
Then We will soon ease him to the Easiest.

Abdul Haleem:
We shall smooth his way towards ease.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تو ہم بھی اس کو آسان راستے کی سہولت دیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
जन्नत) के असबाब मुहय्या कर देंगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Maka sesungguhnya Kami akan memberikannya kemudahan untuk mendapat kesenangan (Syurga).

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ

8.  Wa ammaa man bakhila wastaghnaa
But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

 

Yusuf Ali:
But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient,

Abul Ala Maududi:
As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah),

Muhsin Khan:
But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient.

Pickthall:
But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent,

Dr. Ghali:
And as for him who is miserly, and thinks himself self-sufficient,

Abdul Haleem:
There is the one who is miserly, who is self-satisfied,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
لیکن جس نے بخیلی کی اور بے پرواہی برتی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और जिसने बुख्ल किया, और बेपरवाई की

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sebaliknya: orang yang bakhil (daripada berbuat kebajikan) dan merasa cukup dengan kekayaan dan kemewahannya, –

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ

9.  Wa kazzaba bil husnaa
And denies the best [reward],

 

Yusuf Ali:
And gives the lie to the best,-

Abul Ala Maududi:
and denied the Truth of goodness:

Muhsin Khan:
And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote);

Pickthall:
And disbelieveth in goodness;

Dr. Ghali:
And cries lies to the fairest (reward),

Abdul Haleem:
who denies goodness––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور نیک بات کی تکذیب کی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और अच्छी बात को झुठलाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Serta ia mendustakan perkara yang baik,

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ

10.  Fasanu yassiruhoo lil’usraa
We will ease him toward difficulty.

 

Yusuf Ali:
We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery;

Abul Ala Maududi:
We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship,

Muhsin Khan:
We will make smooth for him the path for evil;

Pickthall:
Surely We will ease his way unto adversity.

Dr. Ghali:
Then We will soon ease him to the (great) Difficulty.

Abdul Haleem:
We shall smooth his way towards hardship

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تو ہم بھی اس کی تنگی ومشکل کے سامان میسر کر دیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो हम उसे सख्ती (जहन्नुम) में पहुँचा देंगे,

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Maka sesungguhnya Kami akan memberikannya kemudahan untuk mendapat kesusahan dan kesengsaraan;

وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

11.  Wa maa yughnee ‘anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa
And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

 

Yusuf Ali:
Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit).

Abul Ala Maududi:
and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes.

Muhsin Khan:
And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction).

Pickthall:
His riches will not save him when he perisheth.

Dr. Ghali:
And in no way will his wealth avail him when he topples (to death).

Abdul Haleem:
and his wealth will not help him as he falls.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اس کا مال اسے (اوندھا) گرنے کے وقت کچھ کام نہ آئے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और जब वह हलाक होगा तो उसका माल उसके कुछ भी काम आएगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan apakah pertolongan yang dapat diberi kepadanya oleh hartanya apabiha ia telah terjerumus (ke dalam azab seksa hari akhirat)?

إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ

12.  Inna ‘alainaa lal hudaa
Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way,

Muhsin Khan:
Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance,

Pickthall:
Lo! Ours it is (to give) the guidance

Dr. Ghali:
Surely upon Us (rests) indeed the guidance,

Abdul Haleem:
Our part is to provide guidance––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
بیشک راه دکھا دینا ہمارے ذمہ ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
हमें राह दिखा देना ज़रूर है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya tanggungan Kamilah memberi hidayah petunjuk (tentang yang benar dan yang salah).

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ

13.  Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa
And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

 

Yusuf Ali:
And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning.

Abul Ala Maududi:
and to Us belong the Next Life and the present.

Muhsin Khan:
And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world).

Pickthall:
And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former.

Dr. Ghali:
And surely to Us (belong) indeed the Hereafter and the First (i.e., the present life).

Abdul Haleem:
this world and the next belong to Us––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور ہمارے ہی ہاتھ آخرت اور دنیا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और आख़ेरत और दुनिया (दोनों) ख़ास हमारी चीज़े हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan sesungguhnya Kamilah yang menguasai hari akhirat dan alam dunia.

فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارٗا تَلَظَّىٰ

14.  Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa
So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely;

Abul Ala Maududi:
I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire,

Muhsin Khan:
Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell);

Pickthall:
Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire

Dr. Ghali:
So I have warned you of a Fire that blazes fiercely,

Abdul Haleem:
so I warn you about the raging Fire,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
میں نے تو تمہیں شعلے مارتی ہوئی آگ سے ڈرا دیا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो हमने तुम्हें भड़कती हुई आग से डरा दिया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Maka (serentak dengan memberi hidayah petunjuk) Aku juga telah memberi amaran mengingatkan kamu akan api neraka yang marak menjulang,

لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى

15.  Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa
None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.

 

Yusuf Ali:
None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones

Abul Ala Maududi:
where none shall burn except the most wicked,

Muhsin Khan:
None shall enter it save the most wretched,

Pickthall:
Which only the most wretched must endure,

Dr. Ghali:
Whereat none except the most wretched will be roasted

Abdul Haleem:
in which none but the most wicked one will burn,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جس میں صرف وہی بدبخت داخل ہوگا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
उसमें बस वही दाख़िल होगा जो बड़ा बदबख्त है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Yang tidak akan menderita bakarannya melainkan orang yang sungguh celaka, –

ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

16.  Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa
Who had denied and turned away.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs.

Abul Ala Maududi:
who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it.

Muhsin Khan:
Who denies and turns away.

Pickthall:
He who denieth and turneth away.

Dr. Ghali:
(He) who cried lies and turned away

Abdul Haleem:
who denied [the truth], and turned away.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جس نے جھٹلایا اور (اس کی پیروی سے) منھ پھیر لیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जिसने झुठलाया और मुँह फेर लिया और जो बड़ा परहेज़गार है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Yang telah mendustakan (kebenaran) dan berpaling ingkar.

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى

17.  Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa
But the righteous one will avoid it –

 

Yusuf Ali:
But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,-

Abul Ala Maududi:
But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it,

Muhsin Khan:
And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous – see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell).

Pickthall:
Far removed from it will be the righteous

Dr. Ghali:
And which the most pious will soon be made to avoid

Abdul Haleem:
The most pious one will be spared this––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور اس سے ایسا شخص دور رکھا جائے گا جو بڑا پرہیزگار ہو گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
वह उससे बचा लिया जाएगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan (sebaliknya) akan dijauhkan (azab neraka) itu daripada orang yang sungguh bertaqwa, –

ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

18.  Allazee yu’tee maalahoo yatazakkaa
[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

 

Yusuf Ali:
Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification,

Abul Ala Maududi:
the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself;

Muhsin Khan:
He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification,

Pickthall:
Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness).

Dr. Ghali:
(He) who brings (forth) his wealth to cleanse himself.

Abdul Haleem:
who gives his wealth away as self-purification,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جو پاکی حاصل کرنے کے لئے اپنا مال دیتا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जो अपना माल (ख़ुदा की राह) में देता है ताकि पाक हो जाए

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Yang mendermakan hartanya dengan tujuan membersihkan dirinya dan hartabendanya,

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةٖ تُجۡزَىٰٓ

19.  Wa maa li ahadin ‘indahoo min ni’matin tujzaaa
And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

 

Yusuf Ali:
And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,

Abul Ala Maududi:
not as payment for any favours that he received,

Muhsin Khan:
And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return,

Pickthall:
And none hath with him any favour for reward,

Dr. Ghali:
And in no way has anyone in his presence any favor to be recompensed,

Abdul Haleem:
not to return a favour to anyone

Muhammad Junagarhi:
کسی کا اس پر کوئی احسان نہیں کہ جس کا بدلہ دیا جا رہا ہو

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और लुत्फ ये है कि किसी का उस पर कोई एहसान नहीं जिसका उसे बदला दिया जाता है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sedang ia tidak menanggung budi sesiapapun, yang patut di balas,

إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ

20.  Illab tighaaa’a wajhi rabbihil a ‘laa
But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.

 

Yusuf Ali:
But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High;

Abul Ala Maududi:
but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High.

Muhsin Khan:
Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High;

Pickthall:
Except as seeking (to fulfil) the purpose of his Lord Most High.

Dr. Ghali:
Except for seeking the Face of his Lord, The Most Exalted.

Abdul Haleem:
but for the sake of his Lord the Most High––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
بلکہ صرف اپنے پروردگار بزرگ وبلند کی رضا چاہنے کے لئے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बल्कि (वह तो) सिर्फ अपने आलीशान परवरदिगार की ख़ुशनूदी हासिल करने के लिए (देता है)

وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ

21.  Wa lasawfa yardaa
And he is going to be satisfied.
