Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Abul Ala Maududi:
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Muhsin Khan:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Pickthall:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Dr. Ghali:
In The Name of Allah, The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful

Abdul Haleem:
In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
شروع کرتا ہوں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم واﻻ ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
अल्लाह के नाम से जो रहमान रहीम है।

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Mengasihani.

أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ

1.     Al haaku mut takathur

Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you

 

Yusuf Ali:
The mutual rivalry for piling up (the good things of this world) diverts you (from the more serious things),

Abul Ala Maududi:
The craving for ever-greater worldly gains and to excel others in that regard keeps you occupied

Muhsin Khan:
The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you,

Pickthall:
Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you

Dr. Ghali:
(Gross) multiplying diverts you.

Abdul Haleem:
Striving for more distracts you

Muhammad Junagarhi:
زیادتی کی چاہت نے تمہیں غافل کردیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
कुल माल की बहुतायत ने तुम लोगों को ग़ाफ़िल रखा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kamu telah dilalaikan (daripada mengerjakan amal bakti) oleh perbuatan berlumba-lumba untuk mendapat dengan sebanyak-banyaknya (harta benda, anak-pinak pangkat dan pengaruh), –

حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ

2.     Hatta zurtumul-maqaabir

Until you visit the graveyards.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Until ye visit the graves.

Abul Ala Maududi:
until you reach your graves.

Muhsin Khan:
Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die).

Pickthall:
Until ye come to the graves.

Dr. Ghali:
Till you visit the cemeteries.

Abdul Haleem:
until you go into your graves.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یہاں تک کہ تم قبرستان جا پہنچے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
यहाँ तक कि तुम लोगों ने कब्रें देखी (मर गए)

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sehingga kamu masuk kubur.

كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

3.     Kalla sawfa ta’lamoon

No! You are going to know.

 

Yusuf Ali:
But nay, ye soon shall know (the reality).

Abul Ala Maududi:
Nay, you will soon come to know;

Muhsin Khan:
Nay! You shall come to know!

Pickthall:
Nay, but ye will come to know!

Dr. Ghali:
Not at all! (But) eventually you will know.

Abdul Haleem:
No indeed! You will come to know.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ہرگز نہیں تم عنقریب معلوم کر لو گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
देखो तुमको अनक़रीब ही मालुम हो जाएगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Jangan sekali-kali (bersikap demikian)! Kamu akan mengetahui kelak (akibatnya yang buruk semasa hendak mati)!

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ

4.     Thumma kalla sawfa ta’lamoon

Then no! You are going to know.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Again, ye soon shall know!

Abul Ala Maududi:
nay, again, you shall soon come to know.

Muhsin Khan:
Again, Nay! You shall come to know!

Pickthall:
Nay, but ye will come to know!

Dr. Ghali:
Again (Literally: Thereafter) not at all! (But) eventually you will know.

Abdul Haleem:
No indeed! In the end you will come to know.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ہرگز نہیں پھر تمہیں جلد علم ہو جائے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर देखो तुम्हें अनक़रीब ही मालूम हो जाएगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sekali lagi (diingatkan): jangan sekali-kali (kamu bersikap demikian)! Kamu akan mengetahui kelak akibatnya yang buruk pada hari kiamat)!

كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ

5.     Kalla law ta’lamoona ‘ilmal yaqeen

No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty…

 

Yusuf Ali:
Nay, were ye to know with certainty of mind, (ye would beware!)

Abul Ala Maududi:
Nay, would that you knew with certainty of knowledge (what your attitude will lead to, you would never have acted the way you do).

Muhsin Khan:
Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things)

Pickthall:
Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge!

Dr. Ghali:
Not at all! (But) if you know with the knowledge of certitude,

Abdul Haleem:
No indeed! If only you knew for certain.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ہرگز نہیں اگر تم یقینی طور پر جان لو

Suhel Farooq Khan:
देखो अगर तुमको यक़ीनी तौर पर मालूम होता (तो हरगिज़ ग़ाफिल होते)

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Demi sesungguhnya! Kalaulah kamu mengetahui – (apa yang kamu akan hadapi) – dengan pengetahuan yang yakin, (tentulah kamu akan mengerjakan perkara-perkara yang menjadi bekalan kamu untuk hari akhirat).

لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ

6.     Latara-wun nal jaheem

You will surely see the Hellfire.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Ye shall certainly see Hell-Fire!

Abul Ala Maududi:
You will surely end up seeing Hell;

Muhsin Khan:
Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!

Pickthall:
For ye will behold hell-fire.

Dr. Ghali:
Indeed you will definitely see Hell-Fire.

Abdul Haleem:
You will most definitely see Hellfire,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تو بیشک تم جہنم دیکھ لو گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तुम लोग ज़रूर दोज़ख़ को देखोगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Ingatlah) demi sesungguhnya! – Kamu akan melihat neraka yang marak menjulang.

ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ

7.     Thumma latara wunnaha ‘ainal yaqeen
Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Again, ye shall see it with certainty of sight!

Abul Ala Maududi:
again, you shall most certainly end up seeing it with absolute certainty.

Muhsin Khan:
And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!

Pickthall:
Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision.

Dr. Ghali:
(Again), (Literally: Thereafter) indeed you will definitely see it with the eye of certitude,

Abdul Haleem:
you will see it with the eye of certainty.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور تم اسے یقین کی آنکھ سے دیکھ لو گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर तुम लोग यक़ीनी देखना देखोगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Selepas itu – demi sesungguhnya! – kamu (wahai orang-orang yang derhaka) akan melihatnya dengan penglihatan yang yakin (semasa kamu dilemparkan ke dalamnya)!

ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

8.     Thumma latus alunna yauma-izin ‘anin na’eem

Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
