Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

 

Yusuf Ali:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Abul Ala Maududi:
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Muhsin Khan:
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Pickthall:
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Dr. Ghali:
In The Name of Allah, The All-Merciful, The Ever-Merciful

Abdul Haleem:
In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy!

Muhammad Junagarhi:
شروع کرتا ہوں اللہ تعالیٰ کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم واﻻ ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
अल्लाह के नाम से जो रहमान रहीम है।

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dengan nama Allah, Yang Maha Pemurah, lagi Maha Mengasihani.

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

1.     ‘Amma Yatasaa-aloon

About what are they asking one another?

 

Yusuf Ali:
Concerning what are they disputing?

Abul Ala Maududi:
About what are they asking one another?

Muhsin Khan:
What are they asking (one another)?

Pickthall:
Whereof do they question one another?

Dr. Ghali:
Of what do they ask one another (questions)?

Abdul Haleem:
What are they asking about?

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یہ لوگ کس چیز کے بارے میں پوچھ گچھ کر رہے ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
ये लोग आपस में किस चीज़ का हाल पूछते हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Tentang apakah mereka bertanya-tanya?

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

2.     ‘Anin-nabaa-il ‘azeem

About the great news –

 

Yusuf Ali:
Concerning the Great News,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Is it about the awesome tiding

Muhsin Khan:
About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.),

Pickthall:
(It is) of the awful tidings,

Dr. Ghali:
Of the tremendous tidings, (The Arabic word is singular).

Abdul Haleem:
The momentous announcement

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اس بڑی خبر کے متعلق

Suhel Farooq Khan:
एक बड़ी ख़बर का हाल

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Tentang berita yang besar, (berita kebangkitan manusia hidup semula menerima balasannya).

ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ

3.     Allazi hum feehi mukh talifoon

That over which they are in disagreement.

 

Yusuf Ali:
About which they cannot agree.

Abul Ala Maududi:
that they are in utter disagreement?

Muhsin Khan:
About which they are in disagreement.

Pickthall:
Concerning which they are in disagreement.

Dr. Ghali:
Concerning which they (continue) differing among themselves.

Abdul Haleem:
about which they differ.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جس کے بارے میں یہ اختلاف کر رہے ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जिसमें लोग एख्तेलाफ कर रहे हैं

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Yang mereka (ragu-ragu dan) berselisihan mengenainya.

كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ

4.     Kallaa sa y’alamoon
No! They are going to know.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Verily, they shall soon (come to) know!

Abul Ala Maududi:
No indeed; soon will they come to know;

Muhsin Khan:
Nay, they will come to know!

Pickthall:
Nay, but they will come to know!

Dr. Ghali:
Not at all! They will soon know!

Abdul Haleem:
They will find out.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یقیناً یہ ابھی جان لیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
देखो उन्हें अनक़रीब ही मालूम हो जाएगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Jangan! (Janganlah mereka bersikap demikian!) Mereka akan mengetahui (dengan yakin tentang kebenaran hari balasan itu).

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ

5.     Thumma kallaa sa y’alamoon
Then, no! They are going to know.

 

Yusuf Ali:
Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know!

Abul Ala Maududi:
again, no indeed; soon will they come to know.

Muhsin Khan:
Nay, again, they will come to know!

Pickthall:
Nay, again, but they will come to know!

Dr. Ghali:
Thereafter, not at all! They will soon know!

Abdul Haleem:
In the end they will find out.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
پھر بالیقین انہیں بہت جلد معلوم ہو جائے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
फिर इन्हें अनक़रीब ही ज़रूर मालूम हो जाएगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sekali lagi jangan! (Janganlah mereka berselisihan!) Mereka akan mengetahui kelak (tentang apa yang akan menimpa mereka).

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدٗا

6.     Alam naj’alil arda mihaa da
Have We not made the earth a resting place?

 

Yusuf Ali:
Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Have We not spread the earth like a bed,

Muhsin Khan:
Have We not made the earth as a bed,

Pickthall:
Have We not made the earth an expanse,

Dr. Ghali:
Have We not made the earth as a cradling, (Or: level lands).

Abdul Haleem:
Did We not make the earth smooth,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
کیا ہم نے زمین کو فرش نہیں بنایا؟

Suhel Farooq Khan:
क्या हमने ज़मीन को बिछौना

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Mengapa kamu ragu-ragukan kekuasaan Kami menghidupkan semula orang-orang yang telah mati?) Bukankah Kami telah menjadikan bumi (terbentang luas) sebagai hamparan?

وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادٗا

7.     Wal jibaala au taada
And the mountains as stakes?

 

Yusuf Ali:
And the mountains as pegs?

Abul Ala Maududi:
and fixed the mountains like pegs,

Muhsin Khan:
And the mountains as pegs?

Pickthall:
And the high hills bulwarks?

Dr. Ghali:
And the mountains as bulwarks?

Abdul Haleem:
and make the mountains to keep it stable?

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور پہاڑوں کو میخیں (نہیں بنایا؟)

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और पहाड़ों को (ज़मीन) की मेख़े नहीं बनाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan gunung-ganang sebagai pancang pasaknya?

وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجٗا

8.     Wa khalaq naakum azwaaja
And We created you in pairs

 

Yusuf Ali:
And (have We not) created you in pairs,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and created you in pairs (as men and women),

Muhsin Khan:
And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.).

Pickthall:
And We have created you in pairs,

Dr. Ghali:
And We created you in pairs,

Abdul Haleem:
Did We not create you in pairs,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور ہم نے تمہیں جوڑا جوڑا پیدا کیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और हमने तुम लोगों को जोड़ा जोड़ा पैदा किया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah menciptakan kamu berpasang-pasang?

وَجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتٗا

9.     Waja’alna naumakum subata
And made your sleep [a means for] rest

 

Yusuf Ali:
And made your sleep for rest,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and made your sleep a means of repose,

Muhsin Khan:
And have made your sleep as a thing for rest.

Pickthall:
And have appointed your sleep for repose,

Dr. Ghali:
And We have made your sleep for repose,

Abdul Haleem:
give you sleep for rest,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور ہم نے تمہاری نیند کو آرام کا سبب بنایا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और तुम्हारी नींद को आराम (का बाइस) क़रार दिया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah menjadikan tidur kamu untuk berehat?

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسٗا

10.  Waja’alnal laila libasa
And made the night as clothing

 

Yusuf Ali:
And made the night as a covering,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and made the night a covering,

Muhsin Khan:
And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness),

Pickthall:
And have appointed the night as a cloak,

Dr. Ghali:
And We have made the night for a garment,

Abdul Haleem:
the night as a cover,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور رات کو ہم نے پرده بنایا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और रात को परदा बनाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah menjadikan malam (dengan gelapnya) sebagai pakaian (yang melindungi)?

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشٗا

11.  Waja’alnan nahara ma ‘aasha
And made the day for livelihood

 

Yusuf Ali:
And made the day as a means of subsistence?

Abul Ala Maududi:
and made the day to seek livelihood,

Muhsin Khan:
And have made the day for livelihood.

Pickthall:
And have appointed the day for livelihood.

Dr. Ghali:
And We have made the daytime for (earning) a livelihood.

Abdul Haleem:
and the day for your livelihood?

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور دن کو ہم نے وقت روزگار بنایا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और हम ही ने दिन को (कसब) मआश (का वक्त) बनाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah menjadikan siang (dengan cahaya terangnya) – masa untuk mencari rezeki?

وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعٗا شِدَادٗا

12.  Wa banaina fauqakum sab ‘an shi daada
And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

 

Yusuf Ali:
And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and built above you seven strong firmaments,

Muhsin Khan:
And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),

Pickthall:
And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),

Dr. Ghali:
And We have built above you seven strong (heavens),

Abdul Haleem:
Did We not build seven strong [heavens] above you,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور تمہارے اوپر ہم نے سات مضبوط آسمان بنائے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और तुम्हारे ऊपर सात मज़बूत (आसमान) बनाए

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah membina di atas kamu tujuh petala (langit) yang kuat kukuh?

وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجٗا وَهَّاجٗا

13.  Waja’alna siraajaw wah haaja
And made [therein] a burning lamp

 

Yusuf Ali:
And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour?

Abul Ala Maududi:
and placed therein a hot, shining lamp,

Muhsin Khan:
And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun).

Pickthall:
And have appointed a dazzling lamp,

Dr. Ghali:
And We have made a glowing luminary.

Abdul Haleem:
and make a blazing lamp?

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور ایک چمکتا ہوا روشن چراغ (سورج) پیدا کیا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और हम ही ने (सूरज) को रौशन चिराग़ बनाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah mengadakan matahari menjadi lampu yang terang-benderang cahayanya?

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلۡمُعۡصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجٗا

14.  Wa anzalna minal m’usiraati maa-an thaj-jaaja

And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water

 

Yusuf Ali:
And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and sent down abundant water from the clouds

Muhsin Khan:
And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water.

Pickthall:
And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water,

Dr. Ghali:
And We have sent down from the clouds (i.e., rain clouds) pressing forth water cascading.

Abdul Haleem:
Did We not send water pouring down from the clouds

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور بدلیوں سے ہم نے بکثرت بہتا ہوا پانی برسایا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और हम ही ने बादलों से मूसलाधार पानी बरसाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan Kami telah menurunkan dari awan, air (hujan) yang mencurah-curah, –

لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبّٗا وَنَبَاتٗا

15.  Linukh rija bihee habbaw wana baata
That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation

 

Yusuf Ali:
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables,

Abul Ala Maududi:
so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation,

Muhsin Khan:
That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations,

Pickthall:
Thereby to produce grain and plant,

Dr. Ghali:
That We may bring out thereby grain and growth,

Abdul Haleem:
to bring forth with it grain, plants,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
تاکہ اس سے اناج اور سبزه اگائیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
ताकि उसके ज़रिए से दाने और सबज़ी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Untuk Kami mengeluarkan dengan air itu, biji-bijian dan tumbuh-tumbuhan, –

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا

16.  Wa jan naatin alfafa
And gardens of entwined growth.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And gardens of luxurious growth?

Abul Ala Maududi:
and gardens dense with foliage?

Muhsin Khan:
And gardens of thick growth.

Pickthall:
And gardens of thick foliage.

Dr. Ghali:
And gardens entwined.

Abdul Haleem:
and luxuriant gardens?

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور گھنے باغ (بھی اگائیں)

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और घने घने बाग़ पैदा करें

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Serta kebun-kebun yang subur bertaut-taut pokoknya?

إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتٗا

17.  Inna yaumal-fasli kana meeqaata
Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time –

 

Yusuf Ali:
Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time;

Muhsin Khan:
Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time,

Pickthall:
Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time,

Dr. Ghali:
Surely the Day of Verdict has been (set) as a fixed time,

Abdul Haleem:
A time has been appointed for the Day of Decision:

Muhammad Junagarhi:
بیشک فیصلہ کے دن کا وقت مقرر ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बेशक फैसले का दिन मुक़र्रर है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya hari pemutusan hukum itu, adalah satu masa yang ditentukan,

يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجٗا

18.  Yauma yun fakhu fis-soori fataa toona afwaaja
The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

 

Yusuf Ali:
The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds;

Abul Ala Maududi:
the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes;

Muhsin Khan:
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups);

Pickthall:
A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes,

Dr. Ghali:
The Day when the Trumpet will be blown; then you will come up in troops,

Abdul Haleem:
a Day when the Trumpet will sound and you will come forward in crowds,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جس دن کہ صور میں پھونکا جائے گا۔ پھر تم فوج در فوج چلے آؤ گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जिस दिन सूर फूँका जाएगा और तुम लोग गिरोह गिरोह हाज़िर होगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Iaitu masa ditiup sangkakala, lalu kamu (bangkit hidup) serta datang berpuak-puak (ke Padang Mahsyar);

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبٗا

19.  Wa futiha tis samaa-u fakaanat abwaaba
And the heaven is opened and will become gateways

 

Yusuf Ali:
And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors,

Abul Ala Maududi:
and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors;

Muhsin Khan:
And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates,

Pickthall:
And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates,

Dr. Ghali:
And the heaven is opened, (and) so has become gates,

Abdul Haleem:
when the sky will open up like wide portals,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور آسمان کھول دیا جائے گا تو اس میں دروازے دروازے ہو جائیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और आसमान खोल दिए जाएँगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan (pada masa itu) langit dipecah belahkan sehingga tiap-tiap belahannya menjadi ibarat pintu yang terbuka luas,

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ سَرَابًا

20.  Wa suyyi raatil jibaalu fa kaanat saraaba
And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage.

Abul Ala Maududi:
and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage.

Muhsin Khan:
And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage.

Pickthall:
And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage.

Dr. Ghali:
And the mountains are made to travel, (and) so have become a mirage.

Abdul Haleem:
when the mountains will vanish like a mirage.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور پہاڑ چلائے جائیں گے پس وه سراب ہو جائیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो (उसमें) दरवाज़े हो जाएँगे और पहाड़ (अपनी जगह से) चलाए जाएँगे तो रेत होकर रह जाएँगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan gunung-ganang – setelah dihancurkan – diterbangkan ke angkasa, lalu menjadilah ia bayangan semata-mata seperti riak sinaran panas di padang pasir.

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادٗا

21.  Inna jahan nama kaanat mirsaada
Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

 

Yusuf Ali:
Truly Hell is as a place of ambush,

Abul Ala Maududi:
Surely the Hell is an ambush,

Muhsin Khan:
Truly, Hell is a place of ambush,

Pickthall:
Lo! hell lurketh in ambush,

Dr. Ghali:
Surely Hell has been observing, (i.e., in expectation of the criminals).

Abdul Haleem:
Hell lies in wait,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
بیشک دوزخ گھات میں ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बेशक जहन्नुम घात में है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya neraka Jahannam adalah disediakan –

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابٗا

22.  Lit taa gheena ma aaba
For the transgressors, a place of return,

 

Yusuf Ali:
For the transgressors a place of destination:

Abul Ala Maududi:
a resort for the rebellious;

Muhsin Khan:
A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.),

Pickthall:
A home for the rebellious.

Dr. Ghali:
For the inordinate (as) a resorting,

Abdul Haleem:
a home for oppressors

Muhammad Junagarhi:
سرکشوں کا ٹھکانہ وہی ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
सरकशों का (वही) ठिकाना है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Untuk orang-orang yang melampaui batas hukum Tuhan, sebagai tempat kembalinya.

لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابٗا

23.  Laa bitheena feehaa ahqaaba
In which they will remain for ages [unending].

 

Yusuf Ali:
They will dwell therein for ages.

Abul Ala Maududi:
therein they shall abide for ages,

Muhsin Khan:
They will abide therein for ages,

Pickthall:
They will abide therein for ages.

Dr. Ghali:
Lingering therein for epochs.

Abdul Haleem:
to stay in for a long, long time,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اس میں وه مدتوں تک پڑے رہیں گے

उसमें मुद्दतों पड़े झींकते रहेंगें

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Mereka tinggal di dalamnya berkurun-kurun lamanya.

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدٗا وَلَا شَرَابًا

24.  Laa ya zooqoona feeha bar daw walaa sharaaba
They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink

 

Yusuf Ali:
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink,

Abul Ala Maududi:
they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink

Muhsin Khan:
Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink.

Pickthall:
Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink

Dr. Ghali:
They will not taste therein either coolness or any drink.

Abdul Haleem:
where they will taste no coolness nor drink

Muhammad Junagarhi:
نہ کبھی اس میں خنکی کا مزه چکھیں گے، نہ پانی کا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
वहाँ ठन्डक का मज़ा चखेंगे और खौलते हुए पानी

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Mereka tidak dapat merasai udara yang sejuk di dalamnya, dan tidak pula sebarang minuman –

إِلَّا حَمِيمٗا وَغَسَّاقٗا

25.  Illa hamee maw-wa ghas saaqa
Except scalding water and [foul] purulence –

 

Yusuf Ali:
Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold,

Abul Ala Maududi:
save boiling water and wash of the wounds;

Muhsin Khan:
Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges.

Pickthall:
Save boiling water and a paralysing cold:

Dr. Ghali:
Except scalding water and (overflowing) pus,

Abdul Haleem:
except one that is scalding and dark––

Muhammad Junagarhi:
سوائے گرم پانی اور (بہتی) پیﭗ کے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और बहती हुई पीप के सिवा कुछ पीने को मिलेगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kecuali air panas yang menggelegak, dan air danur yang mengalir, –

جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقًا

26.  Jazaa-aw wi faaqa
An appropriate recompense.

 

Yusuf Ali:
A fitting recompense (for them).

Abul Ala Maududi:
a befitting recompense for their deeds.

Muhsin Khan:
An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes).

Pickthall:
Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds).

Dr. Ghali:
An agreeable recompense.

Abdul Haleem:
a fitting requital,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
ان کو) پورا پورا بدلہ ملے گا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
ये उनकी कारस्तानियों का) पूरा पूरा बदला है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sebagai balasan yang sesuai (dengan amal mereka yang buruk).

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابٗا

27.  Innahum kaanu laa yarjoona hisaaba
Indeed, they were not expecting an account

 

Yusuf Ali:
For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds),

Abul Ala Maududi:
For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning,

Muhsin Khan:
For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning.

Pickthall:
For lo! they looked not for a reckoning;

Dr. Ghali:
Surely they did not hope for a reckoning,

Abdul Haleem:
for they did not fear a reckoning,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
انہیں تو حساب کی توقع ہی نہ تھی

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बेशक ये लोग आख़ेरत के हिसाब की उम्मीद ही रखते थे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Kerana sesungguhnya mereka dahulu tidak menaruh ingatan terhadap hari hitungan amal,

وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابٗا

28.  Wa kazzabu bi aayaa tina kizzaba
And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

 

Yusuf Ali:
But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false.

Abul Ala Maududi:
and roundly denied Our Signs as false.

Muhsin Khan:
But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely.

Pickthall:
They called Our revelations false with strong denial.

Dr. Ghali:
And they cried lies to Our signs with constant cries (of lies).

Abdul Haleem:
and they rejected Our messages as lies.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور بے باکی سے ہماری آیتوں کی تکذیب کرتے تھے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और इन लोगो हमारी आयतों को बुरी तरह झुठलाया

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan mereka telah mendustakan dengan sesungguh-sungguhnya akan ayat-ayat keterangan Kami;

وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبٗا

29.  Wa kulla shai-in ahsai naahu kitaa ba
But all things We have enumerated in writing.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And all things have We preserved on record.

Abul Ala Maududi:
And everything have We recorded in a Book.

Muhsin Khan:
And all things We have recorded in a Book.

Pickthall:
Everything have We recorded in a Book.

Dr. Ghali:
And everything We have enumerated in a Book.

Abdul Haleem:
We have recorded everything in a Record.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
ہم نے ہر ایک چیز کو لکھ کر شمار کر رکھا ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और हमने हर चीज़ को लिख कर मनज़बत कर रखा है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan tiap-tiap sesuatu dari bawaan hidupnya, telah Kami hitung secara bertulis.

فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

30.  Fa zooqoo falan-nazee dakum ill-laa azaaba (section 1)
“So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment.”

 

Yusuf Ali:
“So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment.”

Abul Ala Maududi:
So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment.

Muhsin Khan:
So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment.

Pickthall:
So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment.

Dr. Ghali:
“So taste! We will never increase you in anything except in torment.”

Abdul Haleem:
‘Taste this: all you will get from Us is more torment.’

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اب تم (اپنے کیے کا) مزه چکھو ہم تمہارا عذاب ہی بڑھاتے رہیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
तो अब तुम मज़ा चखो हमतो तुम पर अज़ाब ही बढ़ाते जाएँगे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Setelah mereka masuk ke dalam neraka, dikatakan kepada mereka: “Oleh sebab kamu telah mendustakan ayat-ayat Kami) maka rasalah kamu (azab yang disediakan), kerana Kami tidak akan melakukan selain dari menambah berbagai azab kepada kamu”.

إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

31.  Inna lil mutta qeena mafaaza
Indeed, for the righteous is attainment –

 

Yusuf Ali:
Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart’s) desires;

Abul Ala Maududi:
Surely the state of triumph awaits the God-fearing:

Muhsin Khan:
Verily, for the Muttaqun, there will be a success (Paradise);

Pickthall:
Lo! for the duteous is achievement –

Dr. Ghali:
Surely for the pious there is a place of triumph,

Abdul Haleem:
For those who were aware of God there is supreme fulfilment:

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یقیناً پرہیزگار لوگوں کے لئے کامیابی ہے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
बेशक परहेज़गारों के लिए बड़ी कामयाबी है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sesungguhnya orang-orang yang bertaqwa, disediakan Syurga tempat mereka beroleh apa yang mereka ingini.

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبٗا

32.  Hadaa-iqa wa a’anaa ba
Gardens and grapevines

 

Yusuf Ali:
Gardens enclosed, and grapevines;

Abul Ala Maududi:
gardens and vineyards,

Muhsin Khan:
Gardens and grapeyards;

Pickthall:
Gardens enclosed and vineyards,

Dr. Ghali:
Enclosed orchards, and vineyards,

Abdul Haleem:
private gardens, vineyards,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
باغات ہیں اور انگور ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
यानि बेहश्त के) बाग़ और अंगूर

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Mereka akan beroleh) taman-taman bunga dan kebun-kebun buah-buahan, terutama anggur;

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابٗا

33.  Wa kaawa ‘iba at raaba
And full-breasted [companions] of equal age

 

Yusuf Ali:
And voluptuous women of equal age;

Abul Ala Maududi:
and youthful maidens of like age,

Muhsin Khan:
And young full-breasted (mature) maidens of equal age;

Pickthall:
And voluptuous women of equal age;

Dr. Ghali:
And youthful virgins, like of age,

Abdul Haleem:
nubile, well-matched companions,

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور نوجوان کنواری ہم عمر عورتیں ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और वह औरतें जिनकी उठती हुई जवानियाँ

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Dan perawan-perawan yang sebaya umurnya;

وَكَأۡسٗا دِهَاقٗا

34.  Wa ka’san di haaqa
And a full cup.

 

Yusuf Ali:
And a cup full (to the brim).

Abul Ala Maududi:
and an overflowing cup.

Muhsin Khan:
And a full cup (of wine).

Pickthall:
And a full cup.

Dr. Ghali:
And a cup brimful.

Abdul Haleem:
and an overflowing cup.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
اور چھلکتے ہوئے جام شراب ہیں

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और बाहम हमजोलियाँ हैं और शराब के लबरेज़ साग़र

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Serta piala atau gelas yang penuh dengan minuman;

لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوٗا وَلَا كِذَّـٰبٗا

35.  Laa yasma’oona fiha lagh waw walaa kizzaba
No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood –

 

Yusuf Ali:
No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth:-

Abul Ala Maududi:
Therein they shall hear no idle talk, nor any falsehood;

Muhsin Khan:
No Laghw (dirty, false, evil talk) shall they hear therein, nor lying;

Pickthall:
There hear they never vain discourse, nor lying –

Dr. Ghali:
Therein they will hear no idle talk nor cry of lies.

Abdul Haleem:
There they will hear no vain or lying talk:

Muhammad Junagarhi:
وہاں نہ تو وه بیہوده باتیں سنیں گے اور نہ جھوٹی باتیں سنیں گے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
और शराब के लबरेज़ साग़र वहाँ बेहूदा बात सुनेंगे और झूठ

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Mereka tidak mendengar di dalam Syurga itu perkataan yang sia-sia, dan tiada pula perkataan yang dusta;

جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابٗا

36.  Jazaa-am mir-rabbika ataa-an hisaaba
[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

 

Yusuf Ali:
Recompense from thy Lord, a gift, (amply) sufficient,

Abul Ala Maududi:
a recompense from your Lord and an ample reward

Muhsin Khan:
A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds).

Pickthall:
Requital from thy Lord – a gift in payment –

Dr. Ghali:
(It is for) recompense from your Lord, a gift, a reckoning,

Abdul Haleem:
a reward from your Lord, a fitting gift

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
ان کو) تیرے رب کی طرف سے (ان کے نیک اعمال کا) بدلہ ملے گا جو کافی انعام ہوگا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
(
ये) तुम्हारे परवरदिगार की तरफ से काफ़ी इनाम और सिला है

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Sebagai balasan dari Tuhanmu, iaitu satu limpah kurnia yang dikira cukup (menurut yang dijanjikanNya),

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابٗا

37.  Rabbis samaa waati wal ardi wa maa baina humar rahmaani laa yam likoona minhu khitaaba
[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

 

Yusuf Ali:
(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious: None shall have power to argue with Him.

Abul Ala Maududi:
from the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of that which is between them; the Most Merciful Lord before Whom none dare utter a word.

Muhsin Khan:
(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and whatsoever is in between them, the Most Beneficent, none can dare to speak with Him (on the Day of Resurrection except after His Leave).

Pickthall:
Lord of the heavens and the earth, and (all) that is between them, the Beneficent; with Whom none can converse.

Dr. Ghali:
(From) the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, The All-Merciful; they possess (no power) of addressing Him.

Abdul Haleem:
from the Lord of the heavens and earth and everything between, the Lord of Mercy. They will have no authority from Him to speak.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
(
اس رب کی طرف سے ملے گا جو کہ) آسمانوں کا اور زمین کا اور جو کچھ ان کے درمیان ہے ان کا پروردگار ہے اور بڑی بخشش کرنے واﻻ ہے۔ کسی کو اس سے بات چیت کرنے کا اختیار نہیں ہوگا

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जो सारे आसमान और ज़मीन और जो इन दोनों के बीच में है सबका मालिक है बड़ा मेहरबान लोगों को उससे बात का पूरा होगा

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Tuhan yang mentadbirkan tujuh petala langit dan bumi serta apa yang ada di antara keduanya, Tuhan Yang Maha Pemurah, tidak ada sesiapapun diberi kuasa berkata-kata denganNya (untuk memohon pertimbangan tentang balasan atau pengurniaan itu);

يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّٗاۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابٗا

38.  Yauma yaqoo mur roohu wal malaa-ikatu saf-fal laa yatakallamoona ill-laa man azina lahur rahmaanu wa qaala sawaaba
The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

 

Yusuf Ali:
The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand forth in ranks, none shall speak except any who is permitted by (Allah) Most Gracious, and He will say what is right.

Abul Ala Maududi:
The Day when the Spirit and the angels are ranged row on row. None shall speak save he whom the Merciful Lord will permit; and he too will speak what is right.

Muhsin Khan:
The Day that Ar-Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, none shall speak except him whom the Most Beneficent (Allah) allows, and he will speak what is right.

Pickthall:
On the day when the angels and the Spirit stand arrayed, they speak not, saving him whom the Beneficent alloweth and who speaketh right.

Dr. Ghali:
On the Day when the Spirit and the Angels rise up in ranks, they will not speak, except him (to) whom The All-Merciful has given permission and who speaks (Literally: says) right.

Abdul Haleem:
On the Day when the Spirit and the angels stand in rows, they will not speak except for those to whom the Lord of Mercy gives permission, who will say only what is right.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
جس دن روح اور فرشتے صفیں باندھ کر کھڑے ہوں گے تو کوئی کلام نہ کر سکے گا مگر جسے رحمٰن اجازت دے دے اور وه ٹھیک بات زبان سے نکالے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
जिस दिन जिबरील और फरिश्ते (उसके सामने) पर बाँध कर खड़े होंगे (उस दिन) उससे कोई बात कर सकेगा मगर जिसे ख़ुदा इजाज़त दे और वह ठिकाने की बात कहे

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
(Tambahan pula) pada masa Jibril dan malaikat-malaikat yang lain berdiri bersaf-saf (menunggu perintah Tuhan), tidak ada yang berani berkata-kata (memohon pertimbangan) melainkan yang telah diizinkan baginya oleh Tuhan Yang Maha Pemurah, serta ia berkata benar.

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا

39.  Zaalikal yaumul haqqu faman shaa-at ta khaaza ill-laa rabbihi ma-aaba
That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

 

Yusuf Ali:
That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord!

Abul Ala Maududi:
That Day is sure to come. So let him who will seek a resort with his Lord.

Muhsin Khan:
That is without doubt the True Day, so, whosoever wills, let him seek a place with (or a way to) His Lord (by obeying Him in this worldly life)!

Pickthall:
That is the True Day. So whoso will should seek recourse unto his Lord.

Dr. Ghali:
That is the True Day. So whoever decides, should seek a resorting to his Lord (i.e., by doing righteous deeds).

Abdul Haleem:
That is the Day of Truth. So whoever wishes to do so should take the path that leads to his Lord.

Muhammad Junagarhi:
یہ دن حق ہے اب جو چاہے اپنے رب کے پاس (نیک اعمال کر کے) ٹھکانا بنالے

Suhel Farooq Khan:
वह दिन बरहक़ है तो जो शख़्श चाहे अपने परवरदिगार की बारगाह में (अपना) ठिकाना बनाए

Abdullah Muhammad Basmeih:
Itulah keterangan-keterangan mengenai hari (kiamat) yang sungguh tetap berlakunya; maka sesiapa yang mahukan kebaikan dirinya, dapatlah ia mengambil jalan dan cara kembali kepada Tuhannya (dengan iman dan amal yang soleh)!

إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابٗا قَرِيبٗا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰبَۢا

40.  In naa anzar naakum azaaban qareebaiy-yauma yan zurul marr-u maa qaddamat yadaahu wa ya qoolul-kaafiru yaa lai tanee kuntu turaaba (section 2)
Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!”
